Door County Historical Society Vintage Day

The Door County Historical Society’s (DCHS) next program in the Yesteryear series is the seventh annual “Vintage Day” on Sept. 1. Vintage Day at the Heritage Village at Big Creek features the Cherryland Model A’s Car Club. The model A’s will decorate the Village from 10 am to 3 pm. Joining the Model A’s is a Studebaker “Izzer” carriage, ukulele music, programs, demonstrations, Breeze the horse, fried chicken, root beer floats and more.

Besides viewing the Model A’s and the Izzer, guests may attend a program about the Warren Family in the Civil War presented by Nan and Jerry Krause at 1:15 pm. The Ukulele Society of Door County will provide vintage musical entertainment at noon, while guests enjoy their broasted chicken picnic lunch. A treat for children of all ages is the daylong visit of “Breeze,” an Arabian horse. Guests are encouraged to bring pre-sliced apples and carrots for Breeze. Author Kimber Leewood joins Breeze to autograph books, appropriately titled Breeze.

Rounding out the day are blacksmith demonstrations and an open house at the Madden Tool Museum.

Participants may explore the nine buildings at the Heritage Village on Sept. 1, 10 am – 3 pm. The Heritage Village is located at 2041 Michigan Street in Sturgeon Bay. Admission is $6.50 for 18 years and older, and a donation in lieu of a children’s fee. Chicken dinners, ice cream floats and sundaes are available for purchase.
