Door County Humane Society to Hold Shoe Drive through Nov. 12

The Door County Humane Society (DCHS) is collecting new or gently used shoes for people in developing countries. The shelter is partnering with the Funds2Orgs agency, which will give DCHS $0.40 for every pair of shoes collected. DCHS is aiming to collect 2,500 pairs of shoes in order to reach their $1,000 goal.

“It’s a win-win situation,” said April Delfosse, the shelter’s communications and development coordinator. “We know that most people have extra shoes in their closets that they simply don’t wear anymore. This opportunity allows us to take those shoes off the community’s hands and give the shoes a second chance to make a difference.”

Any type and size of shoes in relatively good condition may be donated. Drop-off boxes are located at DCHS, ERA Starr Realty, WDOR, and the Nicolet Bank branches in downtown Sturgeon Bay, Egg Harbor, Fish Creek and Sister Bay. The shoe drive is taking place until Nov. 12.
