Door County Idol Competition Moves to Southern Venue

Door County Idol (DCI) is moving its 2013 show to a new venue, the Southern Door Community Auditorium.

The competition has been held at the Door Community Auditorium for the past eight years, but youths from all sections of Door County have asked for the show to move to their locations.

Since its premier in 2005, DCI has showcased the talents of 46 teens between the ages of 15 and 19.

“Door County Idol has provided an excellent opportunity for Door County youths to sing and perform for the community,” Kristy Nelson, Door County Idol producer explained, “but the experience also teaches the kids about self-confidence and technique. We have great support from the community.”

Each year, sponsors are secured to financially contribute to the prize money and production costs. Liberty Square Bistro and Shops and On Deck Clothing Company have supported the show with cash awards to all of the contestants. Sponsorships enable DCI to maintain affordable ticket prices.

Nelson notes that sponsors are needed to continue the show of support to the youth of Door County. Individual and business sponsors are encouraged to call the Southern Door Community Auditorium at 920.825.7311, ext. 320 for sponsorship information.

The 2013 DCI competition will be held on January 5 at 7 pm with auditions in early September.
