Door County Indivisible Rally at Republican Dinner April 7

At 5 pm April 7 the three chapters of Door County Indivisible are sponsoring a rally outside the Republican Party-sponsored Door County Lincoln Day Dinner, to focus attention on the disconnect between the current elected Republican leadership and the citizens of northeastern Wisconsin. Whether the issue is common sense gun legislation, affordable health care, funding for public education, tax policy, outlandish business subsidies, the right to special elections, voters rights, or even the safety and condition of local roads, Door County Indivisible believes Wisconsin’s Republican Party and its local representatives are out of touch with reality. Pam Harvey-Jacobs, one of the Indivisible organizers, said, “It is the role of citizens in a democracy to select and elect good representatives, hold them accountable, and to use their voices to express themselves and that is exactly what this rally is all about.” Participants will rally in Sturgeon Bay at the corner of Oxford and Nautical at 5 pm to welcome the guests and speakers attending the Lincoln Day Dinner at the Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club.

Marchers are encouraged to bring signs and their voices to express their points of view on issues ranging from the failed attempt by Gov. Walker to block elections, the receipt of gun lobby money by elected officials, the various votes blocking affordable health care for Door County residents, the Republican tax giveaway to the wealthy and to Foxconn, etc. Indivisible is a nationwide nonpartisan movement designed to increase voter issue awareness, promote dialogue between members of Congress and constituents, and to preserve our democratic institutions.
