• Some tax form deadlines are approaching quickly. The deadline for employers to mail W-2 forms and furnish Form 1099 statements is Jan. 31. That’s also the deadline for self-employed individuals to file and pay their tax and avoid penalties for not making your fourth quarter estimated tax payment.

The deadline to file individual returns this year or to request an extension this year is pushed back to April 18, which is also the last day to make a retroactive contribution to IRA, Roth IRA, Health Savings Account, SEP-IRA or solo 401(k) for the 2010 tax year.
