Door County Library Access Expands

Door County Library will soon reopen all eight branches for limited browsing and continue to offer pickup service for those who prefer a contactless library experience.

Starting July 13, library hours and services will increase to meet the needs of Door County inhabitants and visitors.

“We miss serving our library users, and have heard loud and clear how much library services mean to both Door County residents and visitors,” says Library Director Tina Kakuske. “The public library branches in Door County are such an integral part of so many people’s lives, and it seemed unfathomable to many that libraries were closed and inaccessible. I want folks to know that library staff felt very much the same way, and we thank everyone for their patience as we slowly work back to having people visit their local branch once again.”

The library has asked for the public’s help in making it possible to open safely with consideration for everyone who uses the libraries. All visitors are asked to:

  1. Wear a mask while inside all library buildings.
  2. Observe social or physical distance of 6 feet
  3. If you feel ill, don’t enter library buildings.
  4. Limit computer use to 1 hour per person, per day.
  5. Limit browsing to ½ hour per person, per day.
  6. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  7. Observe posted occupancy limits
  8. Observe at-risk hours
