Door County Library Receives Curating Community Digital Collections Grant

Laura Kayacan, the adult-services librarian at Door County Library in Sturgeon Bay, is supervising a Curating Community Digital Collections (CCDC) grant from Wisconsin Library Services.

“The CCDC project is especially important to Door County Library because we have a number of digital projects and files that need to be preserved, and since we hope to become more involved in collecting local stories and digitizing Door County history in the future,” Kayacan said. “This summer’s work will prepare us for upcoming projects.”She’s discussed options with the library’s archives researcher, Steve Rice; technical support specialist, Shauwn Rosendale; and John Sarnowski of the ResCarta Foundation, and she plans to research cloud options more, including Amazon, Microsoft, Google and Box.
