Door County Maritime Museum Celebrates Community Appreciation Week

In appreciation for the continued support the area has given, the Door County Maritime Museum is offering Community Appreciation Week, beginning Saturday, Jan. 24, and continuing through Sunday, Feb. 1.

During the extended week, anyone who comes to the Sturgeon Bay museum with proof of residency in either Door, Kewaunee, Manitowoc or Brown counties will be admitted at half price. The current adult admission price is $7 for adults and $4 for students (ages 5-17). Prices will be reduced to $3.50 and $2 respectively. As always, museum members are admitted free of charge.

This is an excellent opportunity to see “Freshwater Fury,” the museum’s temporary exhibit recounting the storm of 1913 through video, artifacts from lost ships and some nifty special effects. The 20,000 sq. ft. facility has four galleries featuring everything from a nuclear submarine periscope, the Sherwood Point Fresnel lens and a remarkable collection of large-scale models.

The Door County Maritime Museum is located at 120 N. Madison Ave. between the two downtown bridges. For more information call 920.743.5958 or visit http://www.dcmm.org.
