Door County Maritime Museum Presents the Newtonburg Brass Band

The Summer Concert Series offered by the Door County Maritime Museum and its Friends organization presents the third concert in their six-week series. On Sunday, July 11 the Newtonburg Brass Band will perform along the waterfront at the Sturgeon Bay museum.

The authentically dressed band describes itself as “a re-creation of an early 1900’s small town brass band” and offers selections that range from marches and light classics to concert band favorites from the 1890s to 1950s. A polka and waltz may be mixed in and the band also has some “sing-a-long” songs.

The series continues through August 1. Concerts begin at 7 pm except for July 25 and August 1 when earlier sunsets necessitate 6:30 starts. The public is encouraged to bring a lawn chair or a blanket, a neighbor or friend and sit back and enjoy the sounds of musicians from the area at these free concerts.

The Museum’s Friends organization will sell sundaes and root beer floats. In the event of inclement weather, concerts will be moved to nearby Bay View Lutheran Church on 340 W. Maple Street.
