Door County Maritime Museum’s Classic & Wooden Boat Festival Events

Sturgeon Bay Coast Guard Station entered this boat in last year’s Sikaflex Challenge boat building competition at Boat Festival.

The Door County Maritime Museum Classic & Wooden Boat Festival is making its annual call for entries.

The festival is scheduled August 4 – 5 and features a remarkable assortment of vessels with judges’ awards for power, sail and self-powered boats. Festival attendees will also vote for People’s Choice Award winners on the Saturday of the show.

The Sikaflex Challenge boat building competition returns with construction on Saturday and the race on Sunday. The field is limited to 12 two-person teams. Entry is free for both the boat entries and the Sikaflex event.

The Maritime Mart incorporates elements of a nautical flea market with a maritime-themed art & crafts fair. Booths can be reserved for $50.

“Paint the Bay” is a plein air painting event that also returns with artists spreading out along the Sturgeon Bay shore. A silent auction follows with proceeds going to the artist and the museum. Entry fee is $15 for adults and $10 for students.

All registration materials are available at the Sturgeon Bay museum, located at 120 N. Madison Ave., or online at http://www.dcmm.org.

The Classic and Wooden Boat Festival is part of Sturgeon Bay “Maritime Week – A Salute to the United States Coast Guard.”
