Door County Master Gardeners’ Association Hosts Two Programs

The Door County Master Gardeners’ Association will host two free public gardening programs in May. The programs will take place at the Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay beginning at 7 pm.

Tuesday, May 3 Jan Wos, owner of Mayflower Greenhouses, and Glenn Spevacek, owner of NEW Gardens, will present “Fun with Succulents.” Wos will demonstrate how to use these low-maintenance, undemanding beauties while Spevacek will talk about the many types of plants that are available, their origins and uses. The duo will also discuss what’s new at the Mayflower Greenhouse this year.

Tuesday, May 10 well-known Door County naturalist Roy Lukes, accompanied by his wife and fellow naturalist Charlotte, will provide information about photographing flowers in the wild or garden, insects, animals, birds, ferns and landscape scenes. Special attention will be given to close-up photography techniques.
