Door County Master Gardeners Host Continuing Education Programs

The Door County Master Gardeners Association will present two informational sessions in their Continuing Education Program in the next few weeks. Both programs are free and open to the public.

Dean Volenberg, Agriculture Agent and Assistant Professor from UW Extension in Sturgeon Bay, will present “Gardening From the Ground Up” on Feb. 22 at 7 pm at the Crossroads at Big Creek in Sturgeon Bay. This seminar will teach attendees how to grow a terrific vegetable garden, starting from a piece of lawn or another piece of “dirt.” Volenberg will explain the theory and science behind growing vegetables from the ground up.

Also taking place at the Crossroads, the Master Gardeners Association will present “Landscape Design” on Tuesday, March 8 at 7 pm. This seminar will emphasize the principles and rules a landscape designer applies to landscape design. It will describe and illustrate all areas of landscape design, including flower gardens, trees and shrubs, paths, water features, and use of rocks. The speaker will be Greg Meissner, co-owner of Meissner Landscape, Inc., a firm that has been providing landscape services in Door County since 1982.
