Door County Master Gardeners Host Open House

The Door County Master Gardeners will be hosting an Open House at the University of Wisconsin Peninsular Research Station on July 16 from 10 am – 3 pm.

This year will feature Chriss Daubner, who will display her succulent plant picture frames and demonstrate how to plant the frames. Mary Gehm will have her dried flowers available for visitors to make a card or small picture.

The Open House will also feature “Artists in the Garden,” where a group of area artists will create art during the event. During “Paint and Plant,” children will have the opportunity to decorate a flowerpot and plant a flower to take home. Toad Abode will visit guests in the Butterfly Garden. The event will also feature a silent auction of Adirondack chairs that have been built and painted by local artists.

The Garden Next Door will showcase the Youth Garden, which has been planted by local third grade students. Garden plots that are maintained by individual master gardeners and Research Station associates are also located in the Garden Next Door.

Wagon tours of the Research Station will be offered. The Family Center of Door County will be serving food and drinks during the day. Master Gardeners will offer punch and cookies from 1 – 3 pm.

The Garden Door is located at 4312 Highway 42, just north of Sturgeon Bay. For more information call Sandie Ott at 920.746.7952 or visit dcmga.org.
