Door County Master Gardeners Offers Scarf-Dyeing Class

The Door County Master Gardeners Association is offering a hands-on class with Wisconsin Public Television’s Wisconsin Gardener Shelley Ryan on August 20.

Ryan will demonstrate how to collect and use botanical pickings as dyes for silk scarves. Participants will take home four silk scarves, one started by Shelley but finished by the student and three more created the day of the class.

The class will take place in the Peninsular Agricultural Research Station classroom and will use The Garden Door display garden and a “dye plant” plot in the Garden Next Door to gather plant materials to use in the dyeing process.

There will be two workshop sessions on August 20: session one from 10 am – 12 pm and session two from 1 – 3 pm. The cost of the class is $48 and includes all materials. For more information or to sign up for the class, contact Barbara or Doug Henderson at 920.743.9026 or via email at [email protected].
