Door County Mental Health Focus Group Holds Events for Mental Health Awareness Month
The Door County Mental Health Focus Group is sponsoring two events in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month.
On May 5, 12:15-1:15 pm, the Ministry Education Program (Recovery 101) is intended for health care providers, mental health providers, social workers and school counselors. Lunch is provided; an RSVP is necessary.
On May 5 at 6 pm, the free evening presentation (Maria’s Story) is open to the community. Maria Hanson, JD, DPS, PRC, peer specialist coordinator – Mendota Mental Health Institute, will share her life story overcoming the challenges of trauma, mental illness and addiction. Doors open at Stone Harbor Resort and Conference Center at 6 pm for attendees to view and obtain resources from various county agencies and organizations. Light hors d’oeuvres will be served.
