Door County Named Best Weekend Getaway

Midwest Golfing Magazine has named Door County the “Best Weekend Getaway” in the publication’s sixth Annual Editor’s Choice Awards. The announcement came in the magazine’s recently released Fall 2011 issue.

In selecting Door County as the best weekend getaway, the magazine stated, “Wisconsin’s distinctive finger is an open door to golfing excellence.”

According to senior writer and editor Glen Turk, the golfing magazine’s annual editor’s choice awards reward excellence in the game of golf.

With 11 different golf courses, Door County undoubtedly offers golfers plenty of fabulous options to hit the links. Combine great golf courses with all the other things to see and do in Door County (the magazine also called out the county’s shopping and dining) and this award likely comes as no surprise to those familiar with the Door County golf scene.

“We’re thrilled to have our golf courses receive this award,” said Jon Jarosh, the Door County Visitor Bureau’s director of communications and public relations. “It’s nice to have the hard work of our golf courses rewarded with this special honor and the attention, and hopefully golfers, that comes with it.”

Midwest Golfing Magazine is available at a variety of outlets throughout the Midwest, and can also be found online at http://www.midwestgolfingmagazine.com. A limited number of copies of the Fall 2011 issue are also available at the Door County Visitor Bureau’s Welcome Center, located at 1015 Green Bay Road (Highway 42/57) in Sturgeon Bay.
