Door County News: Zatlin Book Signing Upcoming

Piecing Together the Butler Puzzle, the latest book from the Jacksonport Historical Society, will be featured at a book signing at Book World on 3rd Avenue in Sturgeon Bay on Saturday, Dec. 27 from 11 am – 1 pm. Author and play translator Phyllis Zatlin will be on hand.

This most recent book in the Jacksonport collection features the Butler family who arrived in Door County from Canada in the 1870s. Many descendants live in Sturgeon Bay or are frequent visitors to the area. Through the generations their Butler origins are concealed by such varied names as Goettleman, Herrbold, Higgins, Hogan, Horne, Klapatch and Spaude.

Recently retired as a professor of Spanish at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, Zatlin is well known as a translator of contemporary Spanish and French plays. Also available at the book signing will be several volumes of one-act and full length plays published by Estreno Contemporary Spanish Plays: Jaime Salom’s Bonfire at Dawn, Paloma Pedrero’s Parting Gestures, J. L. Alonso de Santos’s Hostages in the Barrio, and Itziar Pascual’s Gone Astray.
