Door County North Requests Funds

Welcome to the Notes from the Grove, providing Liberty Grove residents and visitors tid bits of information about goings on in town government.

• Larry Thoreson and Mary Ellen Sisulak made a presentation on behalf of the new Door County North organization, which is replacing the Top of the Thumb as the information and marketing organization for the Liberty Grove area. The presentation covered their goals, accomplishments to date and a request for funds to help the organization. The Finance Committee will review the requests and report to the board.

• The Wickman House, formerly T. Ashwells in Ellison Bay was granted a Class B beer license and a Class C wine license. Joseph Fahrenkrug and Michael Holmes are the new owners. Wickman House will open Memorial Day weekend.

• The board approved the low bid of Northeast Asphalt for the paving of Hanson Lane and German Road. The town crew has begun the prep work on Hanson Lane. The two paving projects will cost $94,195. The board also approved the request for bids for chip sealing Europe Bay Road.

• Darryl Jaraczewski was appointed to the Economic Sustainability Committee. Supervisor Tidball reported that the interviews have been completed by the Door County Economic Development Corporation in the Ellison Bay area. The interviews are part of a process to determine the needs of businesses in Liberty Grove. Once the Ellison Bay plan is complete the study will move to the Gills Rock area.

• The board approved an ordinance to allow board/committee members to participate in noticed meetings by speakerphone when unable to attend in person.

• A reminder that the Shred Fest and Appliance Recycling has been scheduled for June 2 and October 20. Information can be found on the town website.
