Door County Parkinson Disease Support Group Meets Monthly

April is Parkinson Disease Awareness month. Carol Moellenberndt, facilitator of the Door County Parkinson Disease Support Group, will take this opportunity to write about Parkinson Disease in order to dispel myths and educate about what the disease is all about. The Door County Parkinson Disease Support Group meets the first Thursday of each month from 12:30-2 pm at the Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church. As parish nurse and facilitator, the Wisconsin Parkinson Association trains Moellenberndt. On April 2 the group will have a speaker from the Wisconsin Parkinson Association talking about the medications used with Parkinson Disease. Dacy Reimer, NP, has spoken for the group before and is a very informative speaker. Two exercise classes for Parkinson Disease are ongoing in Door County – one at the Sturgeon Bay YMCA and the other at the Northern Door YMCA. Call the YMCA at 743.4949 for more information. Call the church office at 920.743.3241 to be put on the Parkinson Disease Support mailing list.
