Door County Performance: Art of Music at The Ladder House

The Ladder House Music Room in Sturgeon Bay will come alive with the “Art of Music” Winter Concert Series.

On Friday, February 6 at 7:30 pm, Karen Savoca with special guest Pete Heitzman will return to Door County to perform for the “Art of Music” Winter Concert Series. Savoca and Heitzman first met on stage and each immediately recognized the other as ideal musical partner. Years of leading their all-original, dance-driven group imbued this duo with the power to sound like a full band, whether it’s pulsing funk or haunting ballad. Electrifying, unique, and always uplifting, these improvisational performers possess “the fearlessness of a high wire act working without a net.”

Then on Friday, February 20 at 7:30 pm Corky Siegel and Dorothy Scott will take the stage for a candle light concert. Both artists are possessed of a striking emotive vocal style and known for their daring and uncompromising performances.

Corky Siegel first appeared on the American music scene in the early 1960s when his ability to provoke stirring emotions through his unique synergy of vocals, keyboards, and electrifying blues harmonica quickly established him as a contemporary among the leading artists of his generation.

Dorothy Scott is often compared to Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, and Neil Young though her style and sound remain uniquely her own. Dorothy dares the listener to think with songs that are as intellectually stimulating as they are emotionally empathetic. While her albums have featured soothing, ultra-melodic, arrangements, Scotts lyrics have reflected a universal theme in poetry, love and nature.

The “Art of Music” Winter Concert Series is sponsored by Door County Memorial Hospital/Ministry Health Care and is a smoke free venue. The Ladder House Music room will feature specialty beers, fine wine and a special music menu including homemade tortilla chips, fresh Guacamole, sour cream and salsa.

Tickets are $10 at the door. For reservations please call 920.493.5979.
