Door County Pilates, the peninsula’s only fitness studio specializing in the Pilates fitness system, is offering both group and private classes in its Sturgeon Bay studio at 242 Michigan Ave., Suite B101 (in the Fairfield Building).
Owner and operator Michelle Schuster focuses on Reformer Pilates: a series of machine-enhanced Pilates exercises and movements. The reformer machine uses springs and a person’s body weight for resistance.

Schuster, a Door County native and Sevastopol High School alumna, returned to the county from Denver last year. She discovered Pilates in 2017, after years of living with an autoimmune condition, plus back surgery that left her wanting to find a way to strengthen her muscles without adding more pain and inflammation to her joints.
The studio is offering free introductory classes through Oct. 30 for those who are new to Pilates or new to the studio. Book the classes in advance (required) at doorcountypilates.com/classes. Fifty-minute private sessions ($60 each) can also be booked.See the class schedule and more information at doorcountypilates.com.
