Door County Poetry Conference Coming up in March

Registration is currently open for the 2017 Writing on the Door: Poetry Conference, presented by Write On, Door County. The conference will be held March 23-25, with a keynote reading by Naomi Shihab Nye on March 23, 7 pm, at the Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek. Friday and Saturday are filled with a dozen workshops on the craft of writing poetry with wonderful poets from near and far. Celebrate National Poetry Month with Write On, Door County a little bit earlier this year.

Workshop topics and presenters: “Beloved Places in Our Natural Word” with Margaret Hasse; “A Poetic Conversation” with June Nirschl and Judy Roy; “Persona & Paradox” with Dion Kempthorn; “Traveling through Poetry” with Estella Lauter; “Writing Poetry for Children” with Miranda Paul; “Poetry as Memoir” with Alice D’Alessio; “Diving into the Nectar: The Poetic Sequence” with Sharon Auberle; “Humor and the Disobedient Poem” with Kim Blaeser; “Writing Your Life” with Laurie MacDiarmid; “Writing in the Shadow of Walden” with Max Garland; “Writing the Song Lyric” with Katie Dahl; and “First Person Confessional Poetry” with Albert DeGenova.
