Door County Pond Hockey Tournament Draws 15 Teams in Year 2

Hamm’s Hounds was the big winner in the second annual Door County Pond Hockey Tournament Saturday. The team from Madison took home the coveted Stanley Thermos in the top division (Men’s Open A) of the tournament, finishing 4 – 0 in an impressive run to first place.

The tournament drew 90 players on 15 teams from Madison, Chicago, Milwaukee, Green Bay and local players from Door County.

In the Men’s Open B division the Grayhawks of Chicago took first by topping Off Constantly 9 – 6 in their final game of the day to finish 4 – 0 in the division.

The Classic division was the most hotly contested of the day, with three teams finishing with identical 3 -1 records. The tie was broken by fewest goals against, with Big Sticks allowing 22, good enough to top the DC Pickers, who allowed 23 throughout the day. The Sparks finished third, allowing 28 goals.

The tournament was organized by the Peninsula Pacers and took place alongside the Baileys Harbor Winter Carnival with food, music, and radar runs on the lake.
