Door County Reads Events

Door County Reads held its kickoff Jan. 29. This week’s events include a keynote by featured author Andrew Graff, play readings, book discussions, presentations and more.

FEB. 3

Play Reading

7 pm, Third Avenue PlayWorks, 239 N. 3rd Ave. in Sturgeon Bay

A reading of Murder Girl by Heidi Armbruster. A brother and sister have inherited a supper club in the woods of Wisconsin after their mother’s death. Families are the people you’d kill for – or the people you’d like to kill. Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference.

Keynote Presentation
1 pm, Sturgeon Bay High School auditorium, 1230 Michigan St.

Join author Andrew Graff and award-winning short-story writer Rebecca Meacham for a Q&A discussion. Audience members may send questions in advance to [email protected]. The event is available in person or via live stream.

Outdoor Survival Walk and Talk
1 pm, Crossroads at Big Creek, 2041 Michigan St. in Sturgeon Bay

Join program director Corey Batson for a walk through the trails at Crossroads and an outdoor-survival talk. Dress for the weather.

Survival Skills
3 pm, Crossroads at Big Creek

Mike Madden will discuss the things you need to know to survive in the wilderness. The program starts inside before moving outside, so dress for the weather.

Peninsula Players Theatre presents a reading of Painted Desert by Christopher G. Smith. In the American Painted Desert, a charming convict battles with a lost preacher over the fate of a young runaway.

Kayaking for All Seasons
