Door County Reads Events for Jan. 27-Feb. 1, 2017

Readers of Door County should plan to participate in Door County Reads 2017. Courtesy of the Friends of Door County Libraries, copies of the Pulitzer Prize-winning book Empire Falls by Richard Russo were distributed from each Door County Library in December and early January. Additional books are available via the online library catalog at InfoSoup.org.

Everyone is invited to attend the Door County Reads programs.

Jan. 27 at 11 am

The Washington Island Library will hold a book discussion, led by Laura Kayacan, the Door County Library Interim Director.

Jan. 31 at 11 am

The Ephraim Library will hold a book discussion, led by Laura Kayacan.

Jan. 31 at 6:30 pm

The Miller Art Museum hosts “Breaking Down Small Town Walls” with Gary Grahl of Bay Counseling Clinic, Sturgeon Bay. A well-known, respected, licensed school and professional counselor, Grahl will touch on aspects of bullying – a pivotal element in Empire Falls. Beth Lokken, Youth Services Librarian for the Door County Library in Sturgeon Bay, will introduce him.

Feb. 1 at 7 pm

The Baileys Harbor Library will hold a book discussion with the members of the brand new Baileys Harbor book group. Tracy Opper, Branch Manager at the Baileys Harbor library, will lead the discussion.
