Door County Reads Programming Begins Jan. 28

If it’s winter in Door County, it’s time for Door County Reads. The 2018 selection is The Latehomecomer: A Hmong Family Memoir by Kao Kalia Yang.

Driven to tell her family’s story – and the story of the Hmong people – Yang wrote The Latehomecomer as a “love letter” to her grandmother whose spirit held her family together through their imprisonment in Laos, their harrowing escape across the Mekong River and into a refugee camp in Thailand, their immigration to Minnesota when Yang was only six years old, and their transition to a hard life in America. NEA Big Read Door County Reads kicks off at the Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek on Jan. 28 and continues with multiple events through Feb. 16. For more information doorcountyreads.org.
