Baileys Harbor resident Arlene Stanger’s image “Hat Shop” has been named the winner in the Fashion category of the 11th edition of the Julia Margaret Cameron Award for Women Photographers. As a result, she has been invited to exhibit her photography at the 5th Biennial of Fine Art & Documentary Photography to be held in Barcelona, Spain, Oct. 4 – 21.
She was a finalist in the People category and received Honorable Mentions in the Fine Art and Landscape categories as well. Past Biennials have been held in Madrid, Prague, Buenos Aires and Berlin. Stanger was also a participant in the Biennial held in Berlin in 2016.
The Biennial takes place in several galleries in Barcelona with a central hub in the Gallery Valid Foto. The Biennial is also working on the feasibility of doing night projections of all works exhibited on a large screen in a public square in Barcelona during the Barcelona Gallery Weekend on Sept. 26-29.
