Door County Room Tax Returns Show June Bump

Late collections have shown a 5.5 percent increase in room tax collections in June for the Door County Tourism Zone over the same month in 2007. With late collections factored in, total room tax collections reached $309,465.24 for the month. Leaving the towns of Gardner and Washington Island out of the total (they were not part of the zone in June 2007) still leaves $300,108.65, up from $284,277 in June of 2007.

For the month, the overall occupancy rate was 43.05 percent, and the average daily room rate was $123. The occupancy rate for June of 2007 was 44.9 percent and the average daily room rate was $115.
