Door County Sail & Power Squadron to Provide Free Vessel Safety Checks

The Door County Sail & Power Squadron is providing free vessel safety checks (VSC) to ensure boaters their vessels are in good working order.

The squadron’s vessel safety examiners are trained and United States Coast Guard certified. VSC cover required equipment such as personal flotation devices, visual distress signals, fire extinguishers, ventilation, sound-producing devices, navigation lights and more. If the vessel is deficient in any category, the examiners are prepared to discuss how to improve that area or areas.

Examiners will work at Quarterdeck and Harbor Club Marinas on June 8, and at Center Point Marina on June 9, beginning at 9 am.

To reserve a time at other marinas or at your trailer boat location contact John Hermann at 920.743.1675 or [email protected].

Have any out-of-date flares? The public is invited, with or without flares, to join squadron members at Sturgeon Bay Yacht Club, 600 Nautical Drive, starting at 1 pm, June 8, for a flare shoot and fire extinguisher demonstration. In the event of a weather cancellation, the demonstration will take place June 15, same time and place. For more information visit usps.org/door.
