To kick off its fifth year, the Door County Seed Library (DCSL) is reopening its free seed libraries at all eight Door County Library branches March 20.
The DCSL provides free vegetable, herb and flower seeds that members can “check out” to plant in their home garden. Since its launch in 2019, the organization has distributed more than 37,000 packets of seeds, and many of the seeds that will be offered this year are native varieties that were harvested and donated by The Ridges Sanctuary and local gardeners.
The DCSL asks that members take only what they need and will plant in their personal garden, which is typically six to eight packets.
To become a DCSL member, complete a membership form at DoorCountySeedLibrary.org. There’s no cost to join, and membership includes a subscription to the group’s monthly e-newsletter, Seedy Inspirations.
