The Door County Triathlon is hosting the second of four training days at Egg Harbor’s Murphy Park on July 18.
The turn arrows for the bike and run courses for the Sprint and Half Iron courses will be marked with white paint. In addition, a turn buoy has been installed off Murphy Park beach for the summer.
Sprint triathletes can do a single beach-to-buoy-to-boat-launch 0.25 mile course, and Half Iron triathletes can do a three-loop (0.4 miles times three) route to achieve a 1.2-mile swim. There will be no road closures or public-safety personnel, and athletes must support themselves with their own fluids and food on the courses.
There will also be training days Aug. 1 and Aug. 15. From 8 am until 5 pm on these days, volunteers will hand out free Gatorade and water. Athletes should take their own water bottles. The volunteers will also give away 2020 Door County Triathlon shirts to all finishers. Triathletes are encouraged to donate to the local nonprofit myTeam Triumph in recognition of their support during these free training days.
