I would like to thank the Trustees of Ephraim for joining other villages and towns of Door County and unanimously passing a resolution asking for non-binding referendums at the state and county level asking voters to weigh in on campaign finance reform. The referendum would ask voters if they “support an amendment to the United States Constitution stating: 1. Only human beings – not corporations, unions, SuperPACs or other artificial entities – are endowed with individual constitutional rights, and 2. Money is not speech, and therefore limiting political contributions and spending is not equivalent to restricting political speech.”
