Door County UUF Screens “Baraka”

For the holiday season, Movies That Matter will suspend the chatter with a screening of Baraka on Dec. 20 at 4:30 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Ephraim.

Described as both cerebral and mind-bending, Baraka is sure to engage viewers with its extraordinary visuals of our world. Shot in 24 countries on 70mm film, this mesmerizing film conveys the relationship between humans and the environment, with images ranging from the daily devotions of Tibetan monks to time-lapse views of the Hong Kong skyline. Accompanied by diverse world music – without narration or dialogue – the scenes capture nature’s glory as well as its destruction, all expertly photographed by director and cinematographer Ron Fricke.

Global thinkers, naturalists, humanists alike will be thankful that they stumbled upon this informative and emotionally disturbing gem.

Movies That Matter highlights topics of substance the third Tuesday of every month at 4:30 pm. The UU Fellowship is located at 10341 Highway 42, Ephraim. For more information visit http://www.uufdc.org or call 920.854.7559.
