The Door County Visitor Bureau (DCVB) recently announced the addition of a new staff position and the search for a new staff member due to the bureau’s expanding role of promoting tourism in Door County.
Jon Jarosh, the director of marketing for the bureau since early 2004, will become the destination marketing organization’s new Director of Communications and Public Relations. As a result, the DCVB will begin searching for a new person to take over as the bureau’s director of marketing.
The DCVB, formerly the Door County Chamber of Commerce, has always been charged with promoting Door County as a vacation destination. But that role both increased and changed in 2007 when the Door County Tourism Zone Commission contracted with the DCVB to utilize the new room tax dollars collected in zone municipalities to market the region. That increased the DCVB’s marketing budget six-fold, and after a year, the bureau saw the need to add an additional marketing staff member to manage the increased workload.
The DCVB hopes to have the changes completed and a new director of marketing in place later this fall.
Inquiries about the director of marketing position should be directed to [email protected]. The director of marketing job description and qualifications can be found on-line until Oct. 3 at Wisconsin JobNet or JobsInDoorCounty.com.
