Door County YMCA Adds Duathlon to Annual Labor Day Run

Runners get ready! Mark your calendars for the YMCA’s Seventh Annual Labor Day Weekend Run. The annual 5k Run/Walk and quarter-mile children’s race has added a new event to the slate this year. They will also feature a duathlon, which will include a 2-mile run/12-mile bike/2-mile run.

“The Annual Labor Day run has been a great event for six years. We just wanted to add some new flavor to it in hopes of creating a challenge that hasn’t been seen in Door County for a few years now,” said Matt Luders, Director of the Northern Door YMCA. “The duathlon gives this event something the county doesn’t currently offer running and cycling enthusiasts. We are happy to fill that void with something new.”

The Labor Day Weekend Run will be held at the Northern Door Program Center located at 3866 Gibraltar Road in Fish Creek. Door Prizes, free use of the Aquatic Center, refreshments and family fun are included for everyone.

Pick-up registration forms at either Door County YMCA location or online at http://www.doorcountyymca.org. Race Day registration begins at 6:45 am. The duathlon starts at 7:30 am ($25 for those before August 22 and $35 thereafter). The 5k Run/Walk starts at 9 am ($13 for those before August 22 and $18 thereafter). T-shirts guaranteed to participants who pre-register.
