While the adults will be running, biking and swimming in Door County over the weekend, the youth in the area will also have an opportunity to try the sport of triathlons. In conjunction with the Door County Triathlon, the Door County YMCA is offering an intermediate level triathlon for ages 4 through 14 for the eighth year in a row on July 16.
The Kids Triathlon is held at the Door County YMCA Sturgeon Bay Program Center beginning at 2 pm. There will be three age divisions with different lengths for the swim, bike and run.
Swimming will be held indoors and the biking and running will be held on the YMCA grounds and in the nearby neighborhoods. Race Day registration begins at 7 am and runs 30 minutes prior to the race. Registrations fees are $23 for each child participating.
The YMCA would like to stress fun with family and friends, participation, and staying healthy and fit with this event. Overall times for participants will be available, however all those who participate and give their best will be a winner. Every participant will receive a t-shirt and an award. Athletes are encouraged to practice at the YMCA or on their own before the event.
