Door County’April Room Tax Numbers

The Door County Tourism Zone Commission (DCTZC) collected $25,453 in room tax dollars in the month of April, bringing the year’s collections to date to $136,656. So far in 2008 $40,997 of room tax dollars has been kicked back into municipality coffers.

April saw the average daily room rate drop to $82, its lowest level since collections began in May of 2007. For the year, the average daily room rate sits at $90 and overall occupancy just 11.99 percent in the eleven municipalities in the zone (Gardner is now the twelfth member of the zone, but had not begun collecting in April). Sturgeon Bay collects its own room tax but is not a member of the DCTZC.

Travelers have filled 24,141 room nights thus far in 2008.
