Door County’s Crossroads at Big Creek Offers Various Programs

Crossroads at Big Creek will continue offering programming and educational opportunities throughout June.

June 17 at 1:30 pm, WaterFest, a family program, will feature explorations of the unique substance called water. Weather permitting the group will visit Big Creek for tracking and further exploration.

June 20 at 2 pm, the DCIST will host a meeting about “Preventing the Spread.” Invasive plant educator Courtney LeClare will help land managers and property owners learn the best management practices for preventing the expansion of invasive species and will also explain the initiatives under NR40.

June 21 at 2:30 pm, a family program entitled “Aquatic Insects” will feature a hike to Big Creek to catch, identify and release aquatic creatures. Participants should dress to get wet. Nets will be provided.

June 22 at 1:30 pm a family history program entitled “Penny Candy” will feature a visit to a general store, which includes a penny candy counter. Participants will learn a little history about the candies of 1900, and enjoy a few samples.
