Door County’s Local Librarian: Linda Malmgren

There is no better place to find literature of all kind than your local library, and no one better to help you find what you’re looking for than the librarians. Meet your local librarian, Linda Malmgren of the Ephraim Branch Library.

Favorite section of the library:
Personally, my favorite section is fiction, particularly mystery and suspense, but I’m very excited that Ephraim has been able to add over 100 art resources (children and adult books, and some DVDs) using the Philip and Martha Cherry Estate Funds.

Favorite author:
I don’t have one favorite author, but I enjoy writers like Michael Connelly and John Grisham who keep me in suspense.

Book every patron should read: Everyone should read one of Roger Housden’s inspirational collections of poems – my favorite is Ten Poems to Set You Free.

Favorite customer question:
Is it possible to check out books if I’m just a visitor to Door County? Yes! Yes! Yes!

Favorite part of working at the library: It’s fun to see all the books that come across the circulation desk, and I feel satisfaction in helping match up a library user with a book they enjoy.

Library service many people are unaware of:
I think most people realize you can manage a lot of your library business from your home computer, but you may not know that you can virtually “browse the new bookshelf” by clicking on the “Recently Added Materials” link (on the right menu of our catalog webpage at InfoSoup.org).

Interests outside of the library: I like to spend my free time bicycling, hiking, cross-country skiing, and of course, reading.

The library is an incredible resource, chock full of not only the literature that rounds out academic reading lists, but novels, memoirs, mysteries, and non-fiction books touching on a variety of subjects, from writers all over the world. The Door County Libraries serve local residents and visitors, offer DVDs, CDs, and magazines, an extensive interlibrary loan and free Internet.
