Door County’s PSA’s Salon Party Closes Exhibit

Over 200 works are included in the 2011 Gallery Salon exhibit at the Peninsula School of Art in Fish Creek.

The Peninsula School of Art will host their 9th annual Guenzel Gallery Salon party on Saturday, Jan. 22 from 6 – 9 pm. The party will be the culmination of the two-week Gallery Salon exhibit that features the work of artists from throughout Wisconsin.

The evening will include complementary refreshments and entertainment in the form of monologues by Isadoora Theatre Company of Sturgeon Bay. Also, 19 “Word Meets Art” poets will read their original works as well as those of Door County’s first poet laureate, Frances May.

An unprecedented 225 pieces of artwork have been entered into the Salon this year. All two- and three-D media are represented and every work is for sale. According to Director of Marketing and Exhibitions Kay McKinley Arneson, two new features to the 2011 Salon may be responsible for the increase in entries.

“The Salon has characteristically been a celebration of the achievements of area artists,” she says. “To further recognize their efforts this year, we added cash People’s Choice Awards and increased the number of allowable entries per artist from two to three.”

Visitors may vote for People’s Choice Awards throughout the exhibition, including the night of the Salon Party. The winners will be announced around 8 pm.

The Peninsula School of Art is located at 3900 County Road F in Fish Creek. For more information call 920.868.3455, visit http://www.peninsulaschoolofart.com, or email [email protected].
