Door County’s Savory Spoon Hosts Cheesemaker Nights

Bruce Workman

Cheese lovers are invited to gather for a special week of spectacular cheese tastings at the Savory Spoon in Ellison Bay. Two of Wisconsin finest artisan cheesemakers will present at the school.

September 27 at 6 pm, Bruce Workman, Wisconsin Master Cheesemaker from Monticello, Wisconsin will be on hand.

Workman owns Edelweiss Town Hall Cheese Company and is on a mission to reintroduce the lost art of classic big-wheel Swiss Emmentaler production to Wisconsin. Participants will learn his story and taste his cheese that is manufactured in a 180-lb. wheel.

September 29 at 6 pm, Marieke Penterman, an immigrant from Holland and first generation Wisconsin dairy farmer who has top national and international awards for her Holland-style Gouda, will be on hand.

Meet the Cheesemaker events feature delicious Wisconsin cheese, artisan salami and other cheese accompaniments.
