Door County’s Town Hall Bakery in Jacksonport Hosts a Live Musical Performance

The Town Hall Bakery in Jacksonport is happy to announce the return of Michael Lee Ammons and the Water Street Hot Shots, Saturday, September 27 at 7:30 pm.

Led by Ammon’s vocals and his National Resonator guitar, the Hot Shots perform a mix of acoustic blues, ragtime, and string band music of the 1920s and ‘30s. Alan “Doc” Mock on mandolin and Tim Dekker on fiddle play vintage tunes with JR Fenner on stand-up bass and jug. West Jacksonport’s own Rich Higdon provides the rhythm with his washboard and is featured on the spoons, kazoo, and the crowd-pleasing sinkaphone.

“It’s hard to believe we’ve been playing the Bakery for 10 years,” says Higdon. “What could be better than vintage music in the old town hall? Plus, there’s pie.”

Blues researcher, author and musician David Evans says, “Michael Lee Ammons and The Water Street Hot Shots have a great repertoire of classic tunes from the blues, hokum, string band, and jug band traditions, plus some solid originals.”

The Town Hall Bakery is on Highway 57 in Jacksonport and will open for the 7:30 pm concert an hour before show time. Call 920.823.2116 for more information.
