Door Habitat Seeks Artist Volunteers

As planning begins for the second annual “Art.i.tat” fundraiser, Door County Habitat for Humanity invites local artists to participate in this year’s silent auction event.

“Art.i.tat” is an auction of art pieces repurposed from the Habitat ReStore. Interested artists are welcome to select an item from the ReStore and make it their own. Examples from last year’s event include a painted panel door by Sarah Bradley and two decoupage lamps by Maggie Whitman. All proceeds from the auction will benefit Door County Habitat for Humanity’s building program, which aims to serve 20 families in 2011.

The 2011 Art.i.tat event is scheduled for Saturday, October 1. Those who wish to contribute an art piece are welcome to visit the ReStore during regular hours (Thursday and Friday from 8am – 4 pm and Saturday from 9 am – 2 pm). Artists are asked to arrange transport for their own items, and submissions must be dropped off at the Habitat office on or before Saturday, September 3. Any questions about Art.i.tat can be directed to Leslie Boden, ReStore manager.

The Door County Habitat for Humanity Office and ReStore are located at 410 N 14th Avenue in Sturgeon Bay. For more information call 920.743.2869.
