Door Pen Winery and DC Distillery Earn Prestigious, International Awards

Door Peninsula Winery (DPW) and Door County Distillery (DCD) received national and international recognition for their wines and spirits. DPW won Double Gold medals for their Mango & blended Chaos Red wines and Best of Class for Mango from the Jerry D. Mead New World International Wine Competition in Southern California.

Double Gold is an award given to the top three percent of all wines entered in a competition and Best of Class is reserved for the best wine of a competition for its category.

DCD’s Apple Brandy and Gin also took silver medals, while its Luminous Vodka earned bronze from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

“These awards are extremely prestigious medals to receive,” said Kyle Thomas, head distiller at DCD. “It’s great that, as a micro-distillery, we can create ultra-premium products and now be world-recognized for them.”

DPW and DCD are located on Highway 42 in Carlsville and these award-winning products can be sampled daily from 9 am to 5 pm.
