Door Peninsula Winery Features Sargent’s Vibrant Paintings

“Mother’s Day Bouquet” by Nancy Kinsey Sargent

The Gallery at Door Peninsula Winery will exhibit the works of Nancy Kinsey Sargent. The exhibit will open April 28 with a public reception from 4:30 – 6:30 pm, featuring light hors d‘oeuvres and wine from Bistro 42 and Door Peninsula Winery.

Sargent’s work is wonderfully vibrant and reveals her love of color, pattern, rhythm, and symbols. Her subject matter is familiar objects and settings that she enhances with her excitement and willingness to explore artistic expression; her style is similar to Henri Matisse. Flowers are often the central visual focus.

Sargent was born and raised in Fish Creek, studied at Cardinal Stritch College in Milwaukee and returned to Fish Creek to become the first art teacher at Gibraltar High School. Her professional life took her back to Milwaukee until she and her husband John retired in Fish Creek.

Sargent has received numerous recognitions for her artwork and is well known as a faculty member, board member and president of the board at Peninsula School of Art. She appears at the Gallery at Door Peninsula Winery courtesy of Woodwalk Gallery in Egg Harbor.

The exhibit will run until September 3. The gallery is in the central rotunda on the first and second floors of the winery and distillery at 5806 Highway 42 in Carlsville.
