Door Peninsula Winery Receives Nods

A slew of Door Peninsula Winery creations have been honored of late, and all of these award-winning wines are available at the old schoolhouse tasting room in Door County.

The Carlsville-based winery recently participated in the Mid America Wine Competition where their blackberry earned a bronze, and Sunset Splash, a sweet wine, eerily similar to white sangria, has earned a silver and bronze at the Eastern International Wine Competition and the Indy International Wine Competition respectively.

A bronze medal may seem token to some, but for the first grapes grown in a little six-acre vineyard in Carlsville that anchor the Door Peninsula dry white called LaCrosse, it’s a heartfelt accomplishment. The Great Lakes Wine Competition awarded LaCrosse, (that is the actual name of the cold-climate, French hybrid varietal grape), a bronze. Door Peninsula Winery’s entry was one of only four Wisconsin winery’s to medal at this competition and the only premium grape wine from Wisconsin to place.

Razzle Dazzle Raspberry has taken home the gold and best of show, but now, its bubbly brother, Sparkling Razzle Dazzle, also measures up with a gold from the International Eastern Wine Competition.
