After viewing the 2008 Annual Archibald Prize in Sydney, Australia, a massive portrait exhibition, Steve Lavell and Cheryl Parker were inspired to launch a small-scale portraiture exhibit in Door County.

“The Door Prize for Portraiture” exhibition features Wisconsin artists invited by the couple to submit a portrait in any media. The month-long exhibition will be held in their home gallery in Baileys Harbor.

Including work from Karen Cook, Malin “Tudy” Ekman, Marty and Glenn Gerber, Lynn Gilchrist, Emmett Johns, Craig Little, Mary Ulm Mayhew, Liz Maltman, Cheryl Stidwell Parker, Bonnie Paruch, Rick Risch, Cynthia Wolfe, and Archelle “Buttons” Wolst, the exhibit will include a diverse selection of portraits in a variety of mediums.

A Best in Show and two Honorable Mentions awards, selected by Tom Lidtke, Executive Director of the Museum of Wisconsin Art, will be announced at a private reception for the artists. To schedule an appointment to view the exhibit, call 920.421.1690.
