Door Shakespeare Presents First Youth Production and Sedaris Reading

Door Shakespeare is offering back-to-back delights in December.

Something’s Rotten in the State of Denmark by Joseph Wallace – the troupe’s first youth production – will be performed Dec. 13 and 14, 7 pm; and Dec. 15, 2 pm, in Björklunden’s Vail Hall. The shows are free, but donations will be gladly accepted to support Door Shakespeare’s educational programming.

The play follows young actor Tom, who, utterly exhausted from playing Hamlet, closes his eyes for just a minute and opens the audience’s eyes to a dreamed-up version of the Bard’s masterpiece that had never before been imagined.

The cast includes Scout Feldman as Tom/Hamlet, Molly Hall, Beatrix Darmm, Brynleigh Ash, Miya Nell, Cade Marit, Rylan Locke, Madison Tlachac, Dalena Pakalske, Theresa Kaiser, Briana Braganz, Calla Rose Defere, Leeland Hubers and Delaney Skiba.

On Dec. 16, 7 pm, Door Shakespeare’s producing artistic director, Michael Stebbins, will read selected essays from Holidays on Ice by David Sedaris. Both thoughtful and playful, these stories are the perfect antidote to holiday craziness. The reading is free.

A festive reception featuring live music, a dessert buffet, coffee, tea, cocoa and more will follow the reading. Reception tickets are $50 per person; purchase them at doorshakespeare.com or by calling 920.839.1500.
