Door-Tran Honors Volunteers

At its April 23 annual meeting, Door-Tran honored four volunteers for five-plus years of service: Barb Schaefer, Judy and Dean Krueger, and Joe Heilman. Volunteer of the Year Vivian Nienow, Board of Director of the Year Betsy Baier, and Partner of the Year NWTC were also honored.

“We are fortunate to have many wonderful volunteers, a supportive board of directors and resourceful partners throughout the community that allow us to provide a variety of transportation services to Door County residents,” said Pam Busch, Door-Tran’s mobility manager.Staff members also shared the accomplishments of 2018, which indicated growth in almost all programs. Door-Tran’s Half-Price Travel and Gas Voucher Programs subsidized more than 2,300 trips. The Veteran and County-Wide Volunteer Transportation Programs provided almost 1,350 rides courtesy of volunteers donating 2,549 hours – a savings to Door-Tran of almost $33,000. And Door-Tran’s Vehicle Purchase/Repair Loan Program subsidized almost 16,000 trips to and from work.
