Door-Tran Receives Sustainability Grant

Pam Busch, Mobility Manager for Door-Tran, receives a check from Bret Bicoy, chief executive officer for the Door County Community Foundation, on June 13.

The Door County Community Foundation, Inc. awarded a sustainability grant of $1,500 to Door-Tran to support the Half-Price Travel Voucher Program. Door-Tran is a creative community network dedicated to connecting people to transportation services that are affordable, available and accessible.

Door-Tran’s voucher program began in November 2008 to allow for more affordable transportation by cutting the rider cost in half when riding with a private taxi or the Washington Island Ferry. To date, the Half-Price Travel Voucher Program has served more than 300 Door County residents and has subsidized more than 14,250 rides to and from local businesses, health care facilities, work and social events.

Door-Tran also offers information, referral and trip planning services and operates two Volunteer Transportation Programs. The Veteran Volunteer Transportation Program assists local veterans who need transportation to VA Clinics throughout Wisconsin and the countywide Volunteer Transportation Program assists individuals whose needs are unmet with other transportation services.
